czjkysavirwa

that's what it sounds like when i attempt to say anything in polish. it's so foriegn off my tounge that any word i learn, i instantly forget.

i haven't seen much of the country, but i have been in krakow for 3 days and i find it friendly and beautiful. the interior of st. mary's church in the main square absolutely blew my mind. as did visiting aschwitz - birkinau, but in a very different way.

i flew here from scotland, where i stayed with the lovely nikki macleod of the macleod clan. amongst the things we did, we went and played at the camera obscura exhibit... touristy but amazing fun. and the next day i climbed the other mountain that juts out of the city which is called albert's seat (the first being the one the castle is on.)

i appologize for the drabness of this entry, but i'm tired and my head hurts and i have to catch a train in 2 hours, so i will post some pictures and rivisit this all later.

cameras everywhere

they say brittian is the most watched nation. there are cctv cameras eeeeeeeeverywhere, and they make no effort to hide it there are signs in almost every shop and every car park and every road and every everything, saying "these premises are monitored by cctv"

but these "speed cameras" signs on the roads are my favorite. i have wanted to take a picture of one ever since i saw one on my first day here, but i've aways been speeding by in the car and not had my camera ready. we came upon this one outside of a car park -- i'm not so happy that it has silly string all over it, but there was no way i was letting this one go. i suppose they thought they are as silly as i do.

why do i like them so much? simply because i am baffled and intrigued by their choice of camera -- it's an antiqe. certainly not the type of camera i would associate with monitoring the speed of motorists... i mean c'mon, if one snapped a picture of a moving vehicle (pronounced vee-hickle) with a camera like this, it wouldn't even turn up on the film.

so britian... good on ya. it works anyway.

tap tap... is this tea caffinated?

why do the english drink so much tea? i've been up for 2 hours and am already on my 2nd cup, and will have at least 4 more before the day is over. i can't think of anything to compare it to in the states... it's like a drug! i'm not gonna lie though, it's awsome. but it's rare that i ever finish a cup... i always leave about an inch in the bottom... and then suddenly it's time for another cup, and i think, fuck i haven't even fiished the last one!

i have been doing things other than drinking tea though... i left brodie and anna and their new gigantic tv last friday. since then i have been staying with stephanie in stoke-on-trent (ya like that name for a city eh? -- again, another intruiging english thing is descriptive names for places) stephanie, and her friend nina, are part of a dance crew here and they also teach several classes a week -- so i have been to a whole bunch of dance classes between cups of tea. plus we've been going out dancing at night... lo-hove it! thank you steph and nina. :)

the weather here is just like it is in the pacific northwest... gray and drizzly. not too cold but certainly not warm. um... yeah, a huge part of why i left western washington universty back in the day -- hated the weather. but temporarily it's fine, and abviously i'm having a great time.

next on the agenda? still don't know but i will report back when i do.

cheers.

en-gah-land!

yeh so i'm on vacation in england... no it really does seem like it.

i've been having tea in the backyard at brodie's house in coventry. i slept in an amazing little nook at danny neighbour's parents' house on the top of a hill over looking the english countryside. i watched england beat australia in the quarter-finals of the rugby world-cup at a pub while wearing my fancy dress and heels. i got sloppy and partied with a few of my best friends at chris and georgina's wedding in felixkirk. and now i'm watching monday night football.

and it's sooooo not over.

so don't think i'm gettin' all rugged and adventurous yet... cus it ain't.

more pictures soon.

regards,
mc lovin
